Listening to God like Ignatius - Spanish Retreat 2025

By Sindy Collazo

Recently, OIS’s Hispanic Minstry team (Ministerio Hispano Ignaciano, MHI) led a Escuchando a Dios como Ignacio Retreat. Fourteen people from the northeast participated in this Ignatian Spanish-language Silent Retreat which ewas led by Sindy Collazo and Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ, members of MHI.

This three-day retreat took place at the Notre Dame de Namur Spirituality Center in Ipswich, MA, with the objective to introduce participants to the principles and various ways of praying in Ignatian Spirituality.

Participants were invited to enter into silence incrementally, facilitated by various moments of prayer that invite them to Escuchar a Dios como Ignacio. They listened to God in their own story, in scripture, in creativity, in their relationship with the world, in silence, in free time, in a relationship with Jesus, in the story of Ignatius, and in all loving and serving.

After each moment, the participants reflected personally and then shared with the whole group the "graces received" from each moment of prayer.

To conclude the retreat, Fr. Jack Fagan, SJ, presided over the celebration of the Eucharist.
